As a means of protecting us from GIF terrorists, this seems asinine. I, for one, will still look at all the comments on my posts and comments regardless of greyness. On Gawker, there are hardly any replies that are visible. This system only hurts the users and doesn't discourage inappropriate commenters enough or protect us enough to be useful. I understand there was a problem, but seriously, why is this the solution?!

This is not the solution, this is an intermediate step while they determine a more effective solution.

Whatever, it's their problem.
The system works fine on Jalopnik because we don't suck.

I can handle being grey again. It seems like a 5 year leap backwards though.
The worst part is that I still see "make money with Google" posts in the black.

If they'd hire a relatively intelligent 18 year old, I'd take the job.
